Description

Westbrook Junior College alumna Josephine Sloboda Abplanalp, Class of 1945, poses at the Abplanalp Library circulation desk following the dedication of the Library on October 18th, 1986. Both Mrs. Abplanalp and her husband, Robert Abplanalp, inventor and manufacturer of a new type of aerosol valve and founder in 1949 of the Precision Valve Company, were present at the Library dedication.

The Abplanalp Library was designed by Kenneth MacLean of the Boston architectural firm Amsler, Hagenah and MacLean. The front of the circulation desk reflects the railing work on the staircase and around the mezzanine, and was custom made by Windham Millworks.
