Description

Eight Westbrook Junior College students hold long white candles in this black and white photograph published in the 1957 Tower yearbook on page 80. Wearing black robes with white collars and dark high heels, the eight young women stand, on stage, in a line behind a waist-tall podium and in front of the Westbrook Junior College shield.

In all likelihood, the eight are Junior Deans conducting the traditional Candlelight Service. "The Junior Deans . . . are guardians of the morals and moral tone of Westbrook and serve as channels for expression of student opinions to the administration and in turn interpreting administrative policies to the students."
