Description
Members of the Westbrook Junior College International Relations Club raise the UN flag on United Nations Day, 24 October 1956, in this sepia toned photograph labeled on the back [Portland] Press Herald. The UN flag was presented to the school by the I.R.C. and is being raised on the WJC Campus flagpole on the Green in front of McArthur Gymnasium. The flag ceremony was followed up with talks on America from several foreign students from Bowdoin College.
Holding the UN flag on the left is Jean Skillins, Class of 1957; holding it on the right is Maurine DeCourcey, Class of 1957.
