Description

Miss Grace Dow teaches a literature course in one of the rooms of the 1938 extension of Alumni Hall. The picture of Napoleon on the wall indicates that the classroom was also used for French classes. Miss Dow taught at Westbrook Junior College for more than twenty years. A founder of the Maine Women Writers Collection, she would continue as the collection's curator well after her retirement in 1967. Her students in this 1960s black and white photograph sit in metal tablet arm desk chairs.
