An unknown female Westbrook Seminary student looks directly into the camera in this 1870s carte de visite by J. H. Lamson, Photographer, Middle Street, Portland, Maine. She wears a dark lace shawl around her shoulders and a white lace ruffle and jabot at her neck. Her hair is tightly curled in the front over her forehead and she wears a coiled hairpiece on the top of her head.
