Nine Westbrook College recreation and leadership students sit on the floor of McArthur Gymnasium in front of a shoeless instructor in this 1970s black and white photograph. The nine students casually sit and lie on blankets and rugs, against a brick wall with a radiator and two windows visible behind them.

Each student looks at the instructor and holds a sheet of paper--possibly the players' rules for a game or the script for a short play or reading. The seven young women and two young men wear slacks, and shirts or sweaters. The two males have side burns, moustaches and 70s hairstyles.The instructor kneels on a dark blanket, his shoes off and behind him.
