Description
Shirley Dean, Westbrook Junior College, Portland, Maine, Class of 1941, stands with her second-year roommate, Madelaine Philbrick, in this black and white candid snapshot developed in November 1940.
Written in black ink on the back of the photo is: "Shirley Dean '41; roommate Madelaine Philbrick--2nd year." Both girls pose in front of a wooden structure, most probably one of the ten homes purchased or leased by the College for housing. Shirley wears a light-weight fitted coat and Madelaine wears a short sleeve dress with belt.
