Special Collections
UNE Library Services houses numerous special collections, which document university and regional histories, and serve as research hubs for scholars and students at UNE and world-wide. Our collections support teaching and research in the undergraduate curriculum, faculty research and scholarship, and offer in-depth learning opportunities to students through internships and employment.
The Maine Women Writers Collection (MWWC) is an archive of published and unpublished literary, cultural, and social history sources created primarily by people who identify as women. The New England Osteopathic Heritage Center (NEOHC) is dedicated to preserving, promoting and providing access to the history of osteopathic medicine in New England. The Sandra and Bernard Featherman University Archives document the institutions that preceded and formed the University of New England, with materials dating from the 1830s through the present. The Featherman Archives encompasses the Westbrook and St. Francis College History Collections. The Art Galleries highlight our institutional strengths and interests—with an emphasis on earth, environmental, and social sciences, medicine, education, arts, and humanities—by mounting exhibitions connecting contemporary art with UNE’s educational mission.
