Description

Six Westbrook Junior College students pose informally in a rural campsite in this sepia toned candid snapshot taken in the mid 1940s. On the back of the photo in black ink is written: Betty Allan '47; Miriam Hepburn '45; Ruth Willey '45; Pat Costello '45; Alice Smith '46; Martha Welch '46.

Five of the six campers wear rolled up blue jeans, pedal pusher style. All have on sweat shirts or camp shirts, bobby socks and sturdy shoes or boots. Their hair is shoulder-length, curled and parted to one side or the other. Arms linked around each or a tree, the six smile and grin at the camera, most likely sharing a private campsite joke.
