Description

In this photograph, students on Work Study are waitressing in the Alexander Hall dining room. The waitress in the center of the image is wearing a "switch" hairpiece wound into a bun, which was popular in the sixties.

In the shadows, the seated figure against the far wall is Grace Dow. She had been a English Department faculty member from 1946 into the sixties. In 1959 she founded the Maine Women Writers Collection
