Artist Kim Bernard served as the University of New England's artist in residence during the Fall 2016 and Spring 2017 semesters. During this time, Kim engaged the UNE community in multiple artistic endeavors with the chief goal of developing science-inspired works of art and assisting faculty and students to integrate arts into their curriculum, studies, and lives.

Henna Tattoo Project

Description and images from Kim Bernard's first project as the University of New England Artist in Residence during fall semester 2016. Kim met with students at UNE's Biddeford Campus Ketchum Library to teach them about the history, chemistry, and application of henna tattoos. For two weeks, Kim's time at UNE was entirely concentrated on the henna tattoo project, as the UNE community lined up to learn about and work on their own tattoos.

Weekly Art Invasions

Kim invited all interested students to meet on Wednesdays to complete an art "challenge" which changed weekly and resulted in an artwork crafted by the students and visible to the UNE community.
