Description of Work
When I was still in college, I got my "EMT Intermediate" license, which meant going into the OR to practice intubations. I found a reflection I did after that day, and re-worked it into this poem, which tries to play with the idea of fallible people treating other fallible people, the disconnect between the intimacy and distance of that relationship, and the fact that its necessary to practice medicine. And the only way to progress as an individual or profession is to practice with the well-being of others is at stake.
