Title of Work

When the Ink is Dry

Description of Work

My mother's birthday is in October, and the year after her death, my family and I got Tree of Life tattoos in her memory. Needless to say, I have her on the brain, and this issue's topic allowed me to channel the sometimes haunting, overwhelming memory of her death with the more elusive reminders of her continued presence. Mixing themes of life/death with bodily imagery allowed me to hopefully capture the experience of loss and loving, which I think narrative medicine necessitates and heals.
