Description of Work
This poem is about my older brother who struggled with depression and substance abuse. He took his own life at 22 years old. I choose to discuss my brother's suicide, in order to create a conversation and destigmatize mental health. As a student entering the health care profession, I need to understand that every single person is on their own journey and every single person has their own story. I need to respect that and try to understand. I need to be present.
