Description
The Department Of Education defines school climate as a “broad, multifaceted concept that involves many aspects of the student experience”. School climate impacts educational outcomes, and a positive school climate can translate to a safe, supportive learning environment. School therapy dogs are becoming more common due to their positive impact on student and educator mental health. This poster describes a scoping review of the literature to determine the impact of therapy dogs on school climate. A summary of the relevant literature will be completed, as well as an exploration of school climate initiatives and identification of how therapy dogs may fit into the school climate discussion.
