Abstract
This is the story of how Dr. Radis developed PTSD after a mountaineering accident and how it affected him in his personal life and as a physician as he continued to practice and see patients.

Charles D. Radis, D.O., clinical professor of medicine in the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine (UNE COM), is a longtime author and resident of Peaks Island, Maine. Throughout his years as a primary care physician, and later, as a rheumatologist, Dr. Radis’s writing has appeared both in medical journals and in the popular press on topics such as empathy and kindness in medicine, the narcotic epidemic, and the logic of expanding Medicare for all Americans.
