UNE's Interprofessional Student Advisory Team (IPSAT) is recognized by the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) as a chapter in their nationally known Open School Chapters. The IHI featured IPSAT’s case competition research poster, presented at the International Social Pharmacy Workshop in August 2014 in their Open School Blog. IPSAT found that students who took the Open School’s Basic Certificate course, 24.5 hours of course work, before beginning their roles in the case competition used the knowledge they learned while working with other professions. It also found that these students had more confidence in the roles and responsibilities of their profession and professions other than their own as well as confidence in improvement capabilities, patient safety, and leadership.
