William Kirmes, D.O. was born in Wakefield, Massachusetts and recieved his B.S. from Truman University in Kirksville, MO in 1971. In 1975 Dr. Kirmes received his D.O. from Kirksville College of Osteopathy and interned at the Osteopathic Hospital of Maine in Portland, Maine 1975-1976. From 1976 to 1979 Dr. Kirmes maintained a private practice in Gray, Maine while being on the staff of various hospitals in the region including, Northern Cumberland Memorial Hospital, the Osteopathic Hospital of Maine, Central Maine Medical Center, St. Mary's General Hospital, and the Henrietta D. Goodall Hospital. In 1979 Dr. Kirmes took over the private practice of Dr. John Parfitt in Manchester, New Hampshire.
Throughout his career Dr. Kirmes has been very active in regional professional organizations including the New Hampshire Osteopathic Association (NHOA), New England Osteopathic Association (NEOA), and the New England Foundation for Osteopathic Medicine (NEFOM). Dr. Kirmes has dedicated much of his time and energy to the growth and support of the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine (UNECOM). At UNECOM Dr. Kirmes served on the Admissions Committee, 1981-1991 and as an adjunct faculty member since 1984. In 1991 Dr. Kirmes joined the University of New England Board of Trustees.
