The third annual Donna M. Loring Lecture on October 12, 2011 featured three members of the Maine Wabanaki Truth and Reconciliation Commission Convening Group, the organizing force behind the first in the nation TRC process created between indigenous nations and state government. This conversation between Denise Altvater, Ester Attean, and Martha Proulx focused on the beginning of the Truth and Reconciliation process in Maine.
The TRC focused on creating a common understanding about Wabanaki experiences with state child welfare, making recommendations for best practice and system change and facilitating healing for Wabanaki people.
