Dr. Carmen Pettapiece, D.O. was a leading figure in the Osteopathic profession in Maine throughout the mid to late 20th century. Dr. Pettapiece was instrumental in the creation of the Maine Osteopathic Hospital as well as the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine. His scrapbooks document the osteopathic profession both in Maine and nationally, their struggle for acceptance, and the professional community they created.
