Description
A postcard of the Portland, Me. All Souls Church, at entrance of the Westbrook Seminary grounds, shows the Gothic church constructed in 1867 for $14,000. Designed by Francis Fassett, who also designed McArthur Gymnasium, the church was built for the First Universalist Society of Westbrook on land deeded by Westbrook Seminary to the Universalists in the 1860s. The Trustees stated that if the church abandoned the property, the property would revert to the seminary. In 1970, when the Universalists built a new church, Westbrook College acquired the Gothic structure.
