Description
All Soul's Church / Universalist Church of Portland was built on land given by Westbrook Seminary. When the Seminary deeded the land to the Universalists in the 1860s, the Trustees stated that if the church abandoned the property, the property would revert to the Seminary. In 1970, when the Universalists built a new church on Allen Avenue, Westbrook College acquired the Gothic structure.
In June of 1970 Grace Baptist Church met at All Soul's Church before locating at Summit Street. The white sign with dark letters announces Grace Baptist Church presence while the dark sign with white letters pertains to All Soul's Church / Universalist Church of Portland.
