Description

Westbrook Seminary students exit Alumni Hall, in 1928, in this sepia photograph by Roger Paul Jordan of Portland, Maine. When Westbrook Seminary trustees decided to make their school all-female, they held off from making it entirely collegiate, continuing the secondary school aspect while also working with the few young women enrolled in a first-year-college program, which had been in place for two years. In the fall of 1928, a second year of collegiate study was added.
