Description
McArthur Gymnasium, Westbrook Junior College, Portland, Maine, sits at the head of the Campus Green in this late 1960s / early 1970s glossy black and white snapshot. A side entrance which originally led to the Gym's basement level and "caf" is clearly visible on the left, as is a low hedge that filled the space between Alumni Hall and McArthur Gymnasium.
During the junior college years, Westbrook students had numerous sports from which to choose to fulfill their physical education requirement. In addition to the expected volleyball and basketball, they could select archery, riding, golf, field hockey, skating, skiing, modern dance and fencing.
