An 1860s carte de visite by B. F. Smith & Son, Photographers, Middle Street, Portland, has the following written on the front: "Helen S. Pratt, Fairfield, Maine." The following is written on the back: "Pupil and later Preceptress Westbrook Seminary." Miss Pratt was also Preceptress at Clinton Liberal Institute in N.Y. in the later 1870s and Principal there in the 1880s..
