Description

Three Westbrook Junior College students and their dates enjoy a Ball--probably the Snow Carnival Ball--at the Eastland Hotel, Portland, Maine, in this1949 glossy black and white photograph. On the back written in pencil is Eastland 1949; seated, Joan E. Sullivan, Ardeth Meserve; standing, Robt. T. Thomas, JoAnne Vaughan, Stanley Plummer, Theodore Browne.

The three couples are dressed in formal attire. Joan wears a floor length light colored evening gown with cap sleeves and a wide studded belt. A corsage is pinned to her left shoulder. JoAnne wears a dark satin gown with spaghetti straps. Her corsage is pinned to the right side of her bodice. Ardeth's gown is a black strapless, water-stained taffeta. She wears black elbow length mitts and a wrist corsage on her left arm.

The three young men wear black tuxedos with wide double-breasted lapels, and white shirts with black bow ties. Both Robert and Theodore have carnation boutonnieres pinned to their lapels with white dress handkerchiefs in their breast pockets.
