Jeri Felix, Westbrook Junior College Class of 1965 (Retailing) designed the nursing cap for the newly established Department of Nursing Education and pins it on a freshman nursing student in this 1965-66 black and white glossy photo by The Wendell White Studio, Portland, Maine. Jeri wears a buttoned up cardigan sweater over a white blouse with peter pan collar. The nursing student wears her pale gray cotton uniform dress with white collar banded with maroon, a starched white pinafore apron, and newly designed nursing cap--white with the WJC emblem on its side.
The Department of Nursing Education was established at Westbrook Junior College in 1965 with the assistance of the Bingham Associates Trust and the Alexander Foundation Trust. Westbrook’s was the first two-year Nursing Program in the state of Maine.
