Description

"In the 1980s, an active overseas recruitment, offering some financial aid, plus a summer program in English (photo) brought a sizeable international contingent to the [Westbrook College] campus. Students from abroad were not new; records show occasional students from the Caribbean from the 1840s into the 20th century, joined by a few from Japan (including children of a missionary in Tokyo, which may explain the others) early in the latter century. A scattering of others had been there since." [Westbrook College Campus, by Joyce K. Bibber, page 124]
