Description

The Maine Women Writers Collection wing within Westbrook College's Abplanalp Library is under construction in this 1986 black and white photograph. Visible behind the brick encased cement walls, which define the handicapped ramp and separate the Library from the parking lot, are the MWWC patio, the Sarton Room and the Calvert Room. The large, upper window triangular shapes within this new construction mimic the shape of the original 1900 gymnasium dormers and the arrangement of the wooden trusses and beams at the gym's roofline.
