An 1870s carte de visite by J. H. Lamson, Portland, Me., shows the profile of an unknown female Westbrook Seminary student with a hairpiece of curls draped over her left shoulder.Her own long hair is curled in the front and braided and coiled at the nape of her neck. She wears a white stand-up ruffled collar and jabot.
