Description
An 1870s carte de visite by J. H. Lamson, Photographer, Middle Street, Portland, Maine, has the following written on the back: "Mrs. Bertha Barnes nee Tracy." In the photograph Bertha looks to her left. She has a white ruffle and ascot at her neck, held in place with a pin. Her hair is pulled to the back of her head, and she wears a braided and coiled hairpiece on the top of her head. A pen or pencil hangs from a chain around her neck.
