Description
Five Westbrook Junior College students walk hand-in-hand and arm-in-arm across the College Green from College Street toward Hersey Hall in this mid to late 1950s sepia toned photograph. Four of the young women wear shirt-waist dresses with petticoats; one wears a plaid cotton skirt and matching top. Two have cardigan sweaters over their shoulders. In the background is a Buildings & Grounds worker on a riding grass mower.
On the back of the photo, written in pencil, is the phrase "Crossing Campus" and "Return to Greta Kerr, Westbrook Jr. Coll." Greta Kerr worked for many years on Portland newspapers and came to Westbrook Junior College in 1955 to teach journalism and to direct public relations.
