Description
A Westbrook College nursing student holds a newborn baby up to the nursery viewing window in this early 1970s black and white photograph. The student wears a simple, plain white surgical gown and white cap. Her hair is pulled back and piled on her head beneath her cap, with the exception of two curly tendrils which hang in front of her ears and frame her face.
The newborn, with eyes closed, is snuggled down into a well-wrapped "bunny" blanket. The nursing student smiles at the plate glass viewing window and angles the newborn so that those looking in may fully see the baby. Perhaps it is the parents who view their new baby for the very first time. The interior of the viewing nursery can be seen through the window, also.
